RELEASE RADAR: Air Jordan 1 Woven Sail

The newest Union LA-Jordan collab will be a Jordan 1 model with woven elements which is scheduled to drop on August 26th. The color scheme of the shoe will mirror the previous 2018 collaborations, utilizing turquoise, tan, and yellow. Like many of the other releases, it’s a fairly neutral model with a few bright bursts of blue and yellow. The most unique part of the design is the mudguard region which features a thick woven band in the style of the Air Footscape Woven. Like the aforementioned collaboration, the new AJ1 will be adorned with visible stitching to give off a repaired feel. In fact, the entire upper region is fixed to look like it is stitched to the lower portion of the shoe, sewn along the lines of the low silhouette. 

The shoe is truly a mutant in the best way, a fusion of design elements, different shoe shapes, and brand visions. While, of course, Nike branding is present on the sneaker, Union LA and Bephie’s Beauty Supply (BBS) monocurs are also highlighted. BBS is the brainchild of (Union LA) Chris Gibb’s partner, Beth Birkett Gibbs.
