Air Force 1s were the first basketball shoe to ever use air technology. The iconic silhouette has been released in low, mid, and high iterations over the last 40 years. A Bruce Kilgore design, the shoe is named after the presidential plane. The shoe first debuted in 1982 and changed the trajectory of basketball shoes forever.

Air Force 1s are typically composed of a smooth leather construction with a prominent rubber sole. Some iterations will feature suede or canvas as the primary construction.

Air Force 1s can be cleaned with a sneaker cleaning kit or with warm water and soap. You can also use a soft-bristled brush. Soak your shoelaces separately in a solution of water and soap. Air Force 1s will fit slightly roomier at your normal size. With this said, buyers typically choose to purchase AF1s at their regular size for the aesthetic of a slightly chunkier silhouette.
